The Indianapolis Airport Authority owns, develops, and operates six air transportation facilities in the Indianapolis metro area - Indianapolis International Airport, Metropolitan Airport, Mt. Comfort Airport, Eagle Creek Airport, Gordon Graham Field, and the Downtown Heliport.


Indianapolis International Airport


Indianapolis International Airport is located approximately 10 minutes from downtown, at the junction of Interstates 70 and 465.

Dedicated in 1931 as Weir Cook Airport after World War I flying ace Harvey Weir Cook, the current airport has grown from 900 acres in 1928 to 7,700 acres today.  A new midfield terminal was opened in 2008.

New Midfield Terminal

Indianapolis International Airport recently completed a $974 million dollar project that added a new midfield terminal building, concourse, parking garage, and a 300 foot control tower.  I-70 to the south is being relocated and the airport will have a new entrance at I-70 and Bridgeport Rd.

Air Freight

The 1.9 million square foot FedEx Express hub facility, located at Indianapolis International Airport, is the second largest FedEx facility.
